Actress dead at 43

An actress that I never heard of has died at age 43. See here and here. She was Amanda Peterson and was best known for her role in the 1987 movie Can’t Buy Me Love opposite Patrick Dempsey.

Why am I writing this? Simple, she was the same age as myself. 43 is young to die. I see from her birth date on Wikipedia that she died just 5 days before her 44th birthday. It’s unclear whether she was still using drugs, but it is clear that she did in the past, was arrested four times, and was aged far beyond her years.

Clean or not, she looked like shit at the end. But she got a Wikipedia page and some articles about her, as well as other actors paying tribute to her. If you are an ordinary addict, you won’t get any of that. You’ll just be dead and forgotten. So don’t do drugs.

Update: Somebody found their way here with search string of “did meth kill ananda peterson”. (That’s how they spelled Amanda.) I don’t know. Your result was a false positive, and nobody is saying what she died of. Her mother admitted that she used drugs years ago but claimed that she was clean for a long time. Mothers are easily fooled because they want to believe their children are doing well, so the truth is unknown. I don’t know what drugs she used, although you can easily find out what she looked like. For example, here. “Meth” in that forum thread title is just speculation. She could just have easily been a coke or crack or even a heroin addict. Meth is no better or worse than any of the narcotic drugs. They all end the same way, so lose your fixation on meth because you’re missing the point.

By the way, most meth addicts do not look like those people in police mugshots. The mugshots indicate that she was into more than just drugs. Most men seem to think that porn stars look good, and they are on drugs like meth. For example, the one I wrote about recently was on meth. So don’t make the mistake of thinking that the so-called “faces of meth” are real. People in mugshots are criminals who happen to be drug addicts, and you should not make any assumptions about such photos.
